Thirty Years In

This year marks 30 years since Mike got his real estate license, and 15 years of us working together as a team. We have been reflecting on what that time has meant to us, and the people who have trusted us to help them through important moments in their lives over the years.

Mike entered the business straight out of college, beginning in a particularly challenging portion of real estate: foreclosures. His job was to knock on doors and tell families they were losing their homes. It was a difficult introduction to the profession, but it left a lasting impression that home is never just a financial asset, it is where people build their lives.

When Erin joined the business in 2011, our capacity grew, but so did our perspective. We discovered that our different approaches to problems and having two voices at the table often helped clients feel more informed and more at ease. One client once described it this way: "Erin is honest in a diplomatic sort of way, and Mike can be brutally honest." We have always appreciated that description because both approaches have their place.

After three decades in Los Angeles real estate, we have worked through foreclosure markets, multiple recessions, bidding wars, historically low interest rates, and everything in between. Those experiences have not made us immune to surprises, but they have made us less likely to be rattled by them.

Perhaps the biggest change over the years is that our role has expanded well beyond buying and selling homes. Today, much of our work looks like project management: coordinating contractors, preparing listings, navigating trust and probate sales, helping clients relocate across the country, or simply being the steady point person while life is happening around them.

In addition to the transactions, relationships with our clients, friends, and family have always been the focus of our work. We are here to be a resource before someone is ready to buy or sell, during the process itself, and long after closing day. Our business has grown almost entirely through referrals, and that is something we never take for granted. Every introduction represents someone's trust — not only in our ability to navigate a real estate transaction, but in how we will care for the person they have sent our way.

Thirty years in, we're grateful that this is still the work we get to do. If someone in your life could use an experienced guide through their next chapter, we would be honored to be a part of their journey.
