When The Next Chapter Begins

Every now and then, we list a home that reminds us of how intertwined real estate and personal history can be. Walking through one of our most recent listings did exactly that. We grew up with this family, spent time in this backyard, and walked through this house long before we were realtors and standing in the living room at the first walkthrough brought back so many of those moments we had shared there over the years.

When the home hit the market, it attracted strong interest and received 12 offers. Ultimately, the highest offers came from buyers planning to rebuild. That’s always a bittersweet reality, especially when the property carries so much history. But real estate often asks people to navigate both logistics and legacy, and it's our job to guide our clients toward the choice that best supports their next chapter, even when emotions play a role. We advised our sellers honestly and thoughtfully, and they chose the path that will offer the greatest stability for their future. While exciting, that transition can be tough, so another part of our job is to help our clients make that transition to their next chapter a little bit easier. Oftentimes, that process involves storytelling. Because of that, we wanted to share some of our stories from this very special property.

This is the home where one of Mike's childhood best friends grew up so for him, visits here go all the way back to preschool. Later on in college, we would drop-in together, and eventually as our own family started to grow, we would spend time here with our own children.

Pets always made this house even more alive. Dogs who greeted you like family, pet squirrels, and even iguana races down the hallway were part of the rhythm here. At one point, this room housed 20+ different animals (one of the kids grew up and became a veterinarian).

The backyard was privy to many summer barbecues, games on the sport-court, teenage antics, and at one point, was home to their pet horse! This place was a sanctuary in the middle of life’s bustle.

While the house itself may change in time, the memories inside it will always belong to the people who lived and loved there. That’s one of the remarkable things about real estate: it’s both a financial investment and a container for life’s moments.

Being trusted to steward this transition was an honor we don’t take lightly. If you ever find yourself facing a decision that blends navigating trusts, family history, and the practical realities of a move, we’re here to help you think it through with clarity and care. And remember, we are never too busy for your referrals!
