March is full of exciting events, from community art showcases to cultural celebrations and unique food experiences. Whether you’re looking for a fun weekend outing or a way to connect with neighbors, there’s plenty happening around L.A. this month!

L.A. Zine Fest
Saturday and Sunday, March 1st & 2nd from 11am-5pm.
Support the DIY publishing community by shopping for zines from over 300 artists, small presses, independent booksellers and community organizers from Southern California and across the country. Over the course of the two-day festival, attendees may participate in hands-on workshops, sit in on a panel discussion, and visit the museum’s art-filled galleries.

Smorgasburg Los Angeles
Open every Sunday from 10am-4pm starting March 2nd until December 21st.
Smorgasburg operates the largest open air food markets in the country, providing a platform for nearly 100 small businesses curated from the next wave of SoCal’s food, beverage and shopping scene. With a family friendly beer garden and more, it is the perfect place to spend a day with friends, family, or colleagues.

Night at the Library
Saturday, March 8th from 8pm-12am.
The library is closed, but you’re invited to step into an immersive after-hours world of stories, with interactive art pop-ups, surprising performances, conversations with diverse storytellers and artists, live music and DJs, drinks, and bites throughout the historic Richard J. Riordan Central Library in Downtown Los Angeles.

Lantern Paw Festival
Saturday, March 8th from 10am-3pm.
Celebrate the Lunar New Year with your furry companions at the 2nd Annual Lantern Paw Festival, hosted by Pawsitive MGMT in partnership with Firecracker LA, The Lantern Paw Festival is a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration designed for dogs and their humans. Enjoy a day filled with unique shopping, engaging activities, and cultural fun in the heart of Chinatown, Los Angeles.

Barks & Brews: The Arboretum
Sunday, March 9th from 11am-4pm.
A day of happy dogs and craft beers, all while learning about pet adoption and more. From 11am-4pm guests can meet adoptable pets from Pasadena Humane, purchase delicious bites and beer from food trucks and The Mt. Lowe Brewing Company, have free dog portraits taken, and visit info tables while giving pups a tour of the garden. Dogs with an adventurous streak can try their paw at an agility course.

Lightscape: An Artwork by Doug Aitken
Runs through March 15th (times vary by day).
Lightscape is an innovative multimedia artwork created by the artist Doug Aitken in collaboration with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. At the core of the work is a feature-length film, a multi-screen fine art installation, and a series of live musical performances. Lightscape creates a modern mythology asking the questions, “where are we now?” and “where are we going?”.

A Chance to Dance: Los Angeles Ballet
Sunday, March 16th and 30th (times vary by class).
Founded by Allynne Noelle, A Chance to Dance (ACTD) Community Day is a monthly community outreach initiative for all. Each month during LAB’s season, the dancers of Los Angeles Ballet offer FREE ballet classes, alternative dance/fitness classes, and lectures/demonstrations for a range of experience level and age groups. Join the dancers of Los Angeles Ballet for a day of dance!

Founders’ Day 2025 at The Huntington

Join a special guest panel of community leaders and expert scholars for a conversation on Octavia E. Butler’s novels “Parable of the Sower” and “Parable of the Talents,” which focus on themes of resilience, community, and social change.
Altadena Revealed Lecture Series - "Altadena: Between Wilderness and City"
Friday, March 28 @ Altadena Main Library
Doors open at 7:00 PM, Lecture from 7:30–8:30 PM
Historian Michele Zack, author of Altadena Between Wilderness and City, will take us on a broad, illustrated romp through the town’s development stages and turning points — providing insights into its specific sense of place and identity. It is the first in a series of lectures designed to inform and advance the process of Altadena’s recovery and rebuild after the devastating Eaton fire of January 7-8, 2025.
